THE POWER OF ADORNMENT

Since the beginning of its conception, jewelry has been a symbol of protection, love, currency, wealth, self-expression & prosperity.  It has served as more than just a decorative element...It has been a powerful symbol that goes far beyond material possessions. Adornment is a distinct language in itself, communicating emotions, status, & beliefs without words. The act of adorning the body with the elements of the earth is much deeper than aesthetics. Chiefs & warriors armor their bodies with amulets & talismans crafted from animal skin, hardened lava & the elements of nature for protection. Royal families embellish their crowns with pearls & precious gemstones to signify status & wealth. Lovers adorn one another with diamonds & sapphires to express their devotion & create a tangible symbol of their union. Matriarchs pass down silver lockets & gold charms to their descendants as heirlooms, symbolizing their ancestral connection. You & I beautify our bodies with shells, brass, & copper to reflect our style & represent our culture. We decorate our ears with gold hoops & rose quartz to amplify our beauty. We proudly wear our grandmother's ruby rings & rosaries as a badge of honor & for comfort. We shield our temples with clear quartz pendants, onyx & medallions to ward off evil. We utilize Adornment as a magical vessel wielded to embody confidence & protect the human spirit. Adornment has become threaded & intrinsically linked to the human experience. It is a bridge between the physical & the spiritual. Whether we wear a simple shell necklace or an elaborate emerald ring, each piece holds a story & adds a form of joy to our existence. Through adornment, we carry forward traditions, memories, & heritage. Jewelry is not just an object or fashion statement; it transcends mere ornamentation...it is a tangible representation of our time on earth. A vessel of love & protection that is embedded in the DNA of our journey on earth. A timeless expression of the human being.

Adornment is generally an accessory or ornament worn to enhance the beauty or status of the wearer. They are often worn to embellish, enhance, or distinguish the wearer, and to define cultural, social, or religious status within a specific community. Items of adornment can tell us about a person's rank, social status, gender role, area of origin, etc. An example would be the beaded jewelry worn by the Massi tribe, which is very specific to them and some related tribes.
